2026 Eligibility Requirements

SHRM-SCP requires strategic-level HR experience. Meet ONE of these paths:

3+ Years Strategic HR Experience

A work history of at least 3 years performing strategic-level HR/HR-related duties (minimum 1,000 hours per calendar year)

SHRM-CP Holders Transitioning

SHRM-CP certification held for at least 3 years, working in or transitioning to a strategic-level role

No Degree Required

Candidates do not need to hold an HR title and do not need a degree to apply for SHRM-SCP

Strategic HR work includes developing HR policies, overseeing integrated HR operations, directing an HR enterprise, or leading the alignment of HR strategies with organizational goals.
